The Gus Macker Tournament is a national event whose primary goal is to promote family values, positive role-modeling, self-esteem, and sportsmanship among youth throughout the United States and Canada. Although Gus Macker has several global sponsors that help fund the event, the success of the Riverdale tournament depends on the support of our local and neighboring businesses.

Our goal here in Riverdale is to put on a two-day event showcasing the talent of our young people… not only from Riverdale, but from all of our surrounding areas. We desperately want to show them the value of their dreams and to encourage them to DREAM BIG. We want to instill in them that with hard work and dedication, they can surely soar. Our event reaches further than simply basketball; we plan to provide educational incentives, health and fitness information, sponsor mentoring programs, and much more. Seeing all of our intended programs through depends on your support.

Far beyond Gus Macker is the notable organization our tournament plans to support this year. The Riverdale Police Department’s Community Policing Initiative Program has made it their goal to keep our streets safe for our young people and all of our residents. Given the recent rise of violence among young people in surrounding areas the Riverdale Police have been committed to protecting and empowering our community via educational programs and youth-oriented activities.

Last year’s event brought over 1500 visitors to the Riverdale area which provided an economic boost to local and regional business. It also gave those that attended a weekend of family-fun centered around a pick-up basketball game. We are looking to raise over $50,000 this year and we ask that you consider partnering with us to reach our goals. Our success will have a monumental impact on all of us. By supporting youth- and family-oriented programs we are making an investment in our future and in the future of our communities. We invite you to be a part of something special.
