The Riverdale Police Department is continually committed to keeping our streets safe for our residents. In addition to their endeavors, they have made our town’s youth one of their priorities. The Village of Riverdale and the Riverdale Gus Macker Team is proud to support their Community Policing Initiatives.

Annually, the Riverdale Police Department’s Community Policing Initiative conducts a Summer Safety Fest at the Riverdale Park. Riverdale Police K-9 unit, Riverdale Police Bike Patrol, and Riverdale Fire Department provide demonstrations and information on safety to community kids and adults. In addition to the educational aspects provided, the PD gives away 18 bicycles and padlocks to Riverdale Elementary School students.

The Riverdale Police Department in conjunction with the Riverdale Fire Department also sponsors and hosts an annual Christmas Food and Toy Holiday Program. With donations from local businesses and Village employees, they are able to provide a large box of food items which includes a big turkey and toys for the kids.

Other programs offered by the RPD Community Policing Initiative include the Whistle Safety Program, the Antwan Randle El Youth Football Camp, and the Community Awareness Policing Academy.
